If you are considering a multifunctional printer, you may be overwhelmed with all of the options. To get an idea of which will work best for you, determine which of your needs is most important, set a budget, and shop for the printer that best fits your needs. Some research ahead of time will help you narrow your options.

HP Photosmart Premium Fax C309HP Printer

Just as the name indicates, this is a great option if faxing is a concern. This model offers high print quality, especially for photos. It is network ready, it prints on CDs and DVDs, and offers a color printing option. Some consumers feel that its duplex printing is slow and that is has a low paper capacity. It is also bulkier than a number of other options, so if office space is at a premium, you may want to keep your options open. The fax does not offer a speed dial option and there is no hinged scanner hood. It also requires higher priced black ink replacements. It does offer added extras such as Quick Forms, ADF, and an integrated CD drive for custom prints.

Epson SX600FWEpson Printer

This printer is more compact in size, and offers good, fast printing. It offers a standalone faxing feature and quality duplex printing. Negative reports of this printer include a small paper tray, a tricky setup, and poor draft mode printing. The printer is sleek and modern looking and many people that have used it believe it truly measures up to its hype. It was designed for small business use and it has the ability to work hard and last a long time.

Canon Pixma MP480Canon Printer

This printer is a winner for those that want high quality printing of text and photo prints. It offers an LED preview screen and can be purchased for a very reasonable price. Complaints include a slow print speed and expensive replacement ink. (Off-setting the low cost of the printer itself.) The scanning quality is reported as not being of very high quality and this particular machine does not offer a faxing option.

Brother MFC-6490 cwBrother Printer

This printer has a number of options including the ability to print tabloid size sheets of paper, making it a favorite among scrapbookers. It offers a 50 page auto-document feed and two paper trays. It can operate in a wired and wireless network environment and includes a faxing feature. Complaints include no duplex printing ability, no auto-page detection, and some reported that it prints with oversaturated color quality.

With at least one choice of a multifunctional printer for each popular brand of printers, everyone should be able to find a model that fits their needs. Prioritize your usage and let that help you determine the printer that will best suit your workload. There are a number of ways in which you can evaluate what is available prior to making your purchase. After determining which of the available multifunctional printers fits your needs, read reviews and ask for first hand evaluations so you can make the most informed decision.
