A Printer Made out of Legos?

by Pete on June 8, 2010

If the old printer in your office were this much fun, you might not ever want to replace it. Unless, of course, you wanted to actually get some work done.

This amazing device is built out of Legos and uses a felt-tip pen. According to the designer, it prints about one page per minute at 75 DPI and each felt tip pen lasts for several pages before drying out.

By the way, this only took about three weeks to build, he says.

Is Your Office Like a TV Nightmare?

by Pete on December 22, 2009

Free Pictures | acobox.comIf you find yourself watching NBC’s The Office every Thursday night and relating all too well, take heart. The reason the show is such a big hit is because so many people see themselves suffering through many of the same experiences that occur during prime time. Maybe your boss is too much to bear, or the pranks and ridiculous stunts drive you mad. Regardless of what you relate to, there are a few tips you can follow to make your situation more bearable.

Your Crazy Boss

Do you find your boss saying many of the same outrageous things as Michael Scott? Do you want to cringe every time he or she hosts an office meeting? The most important thing to do is find the humor in it. Most of the characters on The Office survive everyday life by laughing at Michael, even though he usually thinks they are laughing with him. The play along with and enjoy the time passing aspect of his antics. Life in an office can be boring. Making copies, printing documents, and answering phones can only be so exciting. If you have a crazy boss, view it as a way of spicing up your otherwise mundane day. However, if he or she crosses the line, call on your human resources department for help. Every so often, Toby has to intervene and put Michael back in line. Do not be afraid to speak up if things get out of hand.

Your Crazy Deskmate

Prior to Jim Halpert’s promotion, he was stuck in a very cramped space with Dwight Schrute the beet farmer. You may not be able to stand your cubicle mate, but try to make the best of it. While practical jokes may get you in a heap of trouble in real life, it is important to find the humor in the situation. If you are friends with another co-worker, you can rely on and confide in them. It can be tough sharing a small space with a difficult person, but with the right attitude, you will be able to survive.

There are Alternatives

The most important thing to remember is you are not stuck. If things really do get too intense in a job you do not like, you can take your printing and copying skills elsewhere. It may take some work, especially in a bad economy, but no one is making you stay in a job you hate. In the meantime, look on the bright side. It could really be as bad as The Office.
